Chlamydia

There are usually no symptoms. Painful urination, some discharge and cramping may be present. Woman may experience bleeding between periods as well.

STERILITY. 40% of sexually active people are carriers. It is the leading cause of sterility for men and women. For woman, it may result in the need to remove all reproductive organs. Mothers can pass it on to their children during childbirth. 75% of those infected don’t even know it.

Gonorrhea

Often there are no symptoms. Painful urination, some discharge and cramping may be present.

STERILITY . 80% of those infected don’t even initially know it. Mothers can pass it on to their children during childbirth.

Syphilis

Initially painless sores on the genitalia, mouth and other body areas. Eventually leads to flu-like symptoms and a rash. Symptoms can show up within 3 to 12 weeks.

BRAIN DISORDERS, HEART DISEASE, BLINDNESS, AND DEATH . This STD is also passed on to the child during pregnancy, causes birth defects, death and miscarriages. 50% of those infected don’t even know it.

HIV/AIDS

Symptoms can show up several months to years later and include flu-like symptoms of fever, diarrhea, tiredness, weight loss, swollen lymph glands, sore throat or white spots in the mouth.

DEATH. This is still the 6 th leading cause of death for 15 to 24 year olds. HIV cannot be cured. A mother with HIV can pass it on to her baby while she is pregnant or nursing. 20% of the infections occur during the teenage years.

Genital Herpes

Often no symptoms are present. A flu-like feeling, blisters on the genitalia or mouth, and itching or burning may be present. Continuous outbreaks may result in hospitalization.

CAUSES INFANT DEATH . A mother with Herpes can pass it on to her baby during childbirth. Infant death may result. Herpes cannot be cured. 75% of those infected don’t even know it. 25% of women are infected.

HPV (Human Papilloma Virus)

Often no symptoms are present. Men may experience wart-like growths in the genitalia. Woman may experience burning and itching and abnormal pap smears. Symptoms can show up years later.

CANCER and DEATH . HPV has been linked to 85% of all cervical cancers. Woman with abnormal pap smears don’t even realize it is because of HPV. Men are inflicted with penal and anal cancer. 75% of the reproductive population is infected.

Hepatitis B

Often no symptoms. A flu-like feeling, dark urination, tiredness, jaundice (yellow skin) or light colored bowels may occur. Symptoms can show up 9 months later.

PERMANENT AND SEVERE LIVER DAMAGE . This can lead to cancer of the liver, cirrhosis and even death. A mother can pass it on to her baby during child birth and up to 50% of those children will develop liver cancer.

PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease)

Often no symptoms are present. This disease impacts only woman and is often mistaken for menstrual cramps.

INFERTILITY, ECTOPIC PREGNANCY AND CANCER. Over 100,000 women become infertile each year.
